In 2011 the Scottish Government launched the Scottish National Strategy for Autism 2011 - 2021 which in turn led to Moray and other areas putting their own 10 year autism strategy in place.

Heidi was invited to contribute towards Moray's strategy and was subsequently enroled into MAATT, Moray Autism Awareness Training Team as the only female on the team.

In 2015 MAATT was awarded a STAR award for outstanding contribution. By then the team had trained over 1,000 people from all walks of life including those on the spectrum, their families, carers, teachers, police, prison and court officers as well as people working in the NHS.

Today MAATT no longer exists. Heidi continues to speak to those who want to know more about living with autism and asperger's syndrome though.

She is particularly interested in females on the autistic spectrum and contributed to Sarah Hendrickx's latest book 'Women and Girls with Autism Spectrum Disorder'.

Heidi is also on the Board of a newly formed group in Moray; a group that hopes in the future to improve the lives of those with autism. She has also successfully Chaired the group.

Heidi has a CoE Autism Awareness Diploma and continues to update her professional development in the area of autism awareness most recently by obtaining a Certificate of Achievement and completing the National Autistic Society's course on Woman and Girls on the Autism Spectrum. Heidi has also successfully attended several autism courses run by expert Sarah Hendrickx.

If you would like to hear Heidi speak about autism and asperger's syndrome please contact her via the contact page on the website. She is happy to speak about autism to local groups and interested parties. Heidi's talk is suitable for those over 16 years old. Heidi is also part of a new local autism training team.
